Green Berry Vitality Smoothie

Green Berry Vitality Smoothie

Fresh strawberries, sweet purple grapes, banana, apple juice, and nutrient-rich kale come together in this naturally sweet, refreshing green smoothie. The berries and grapes soften the flavor of the kale, while frozen banana gives the drink a smooth, lightly creamy texture without dairy.
For an extra nutritional boost, add moringa, Zen Basil Seeds, and ground flaxseed. The result is a simple, fruit-forward smoothie packed with colorful plant nutrients, fiber, and antioxidants—an easy way to add more fruits and greens to the day.

Health & Healing Benefits

Kale: Provides vitamins A, C, and K along with carotenoids and other phytonutrients. Blending kale with naturally sweet fruit is an easy way to incorporate leafy greens without creating an overly vegetal-tasting smoothie.
Strawberries: Naturally rich in vitamin C and contain anthocyanins and other polyphenols. They also bring freshness and acidity that balance the sweetness of the banana and apple juice.
Purple grapes: Their deep purple skins contain beneficial plant compounds, including anthocyanins and resveratrol. They also add enough natural sweetness that the smoothie doesn’t require an additional sweetener.
Banana: Adds potassium and natural carbohydrates while creating a smoother, creamier texture.
Moringa: An optional concentrated source of plant nutrients and antioxidants. Because its flavor can be earthy, just 1/2 teaspoon adds nutritional value without overpowering the fruit.
Zen Basil Seeds: Add soluble fiber and become slightly gelatinous when hydrated, which can make the smoothie more satisfying.
Ground flaxseed: Provides fiber and plant-based alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid.

Table-to-Blender™

This recipe is already blender-ready, making it an easy option when preparing breakfast or snacks for people with different texture needs.
For someone requiring a thinner consistency, blend thoroughly and gradually add additional apple juice or filtered water until the appropriate texture is reached.
For a very smooth texture, omit the basil seeds and ground flaxseed and blend the remaining ingredients on high until completely liquefied. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve if a seedless, pulp-free consistency is needed.

Texture Adaptation

Standard Smoothie: Prepare as written.
Thinner Smoothie: Add 1/4 cup additional apple juice or filtered water, adding more as necessary.
Extra Smooth: Omit the Zen Basil Seeds and flaxseed and blend for at least 60 seconds.
Strained: Pass the finished smoothie through a fine-mesh sieve to remove strawberry, grape, and kale particles.

Healing Stages

Because strawberries, grapes, kale, flaxseed, and basil seeds can leave small particles in the finished drink, the standard recipe is best suited to later recovery stages when blended fruits, vegetables, and seeds are appropriate.
For earlier liquid stages, omit the basil seeds and flaxseed, blend extremely well, thin as necessary, and strain thoroughly. Follow the texture requirements provided by your surgeon or healthcare team.

Post-Surgery Guidance

For a recovery-friendly version, remove all kale stems and blend the smoothie until no visible pieces of kale remain.
Strawberry seeds, grape skins, ground flaxseed, and hydrated basil seeds can create texture even after blending. When a completely smooth liquid is required, omit the optional seeds and strain the finished smoothie through a fine-mesh sieve.
Thin with additional apple juice or filtered water as needed for the appropriate consistency.

Reset Kitchen Notes

For the best texture, use a frozen banana but fresh strawberries and grapes. This gives the smoothie a cool, creamy consistency without making it excessively thick or icy.
If you’re new to green smoothies, start with the recipe exactly as written before increasing the amount of kale. The strawberries, grapes, banana, and apple juice create a fruit-forward flavor that makes the leafy greens surprisingly subtle.
Moringa has a distinctive earthy flavor, so more isn’t necessarily better. The small 1/2-teaspoon addition provides an easy nutritional boost while allowing the berries to remain the dominant flavor.
If using all three optional add-ins, drink the smoothie soon after blending. Basil seeds and flaxseed absorb liquid as they sit and will gradually make the smoothie thicker.
